MGL Avionics iEFIS  Explorer Lite 8.5" and Challenger Lite 10.4" glass panels

Duscovery Lite 7" has been discontinued.

The iEFIS Lite range consists of two different sized touch screen panels:

Challenger Lite: 10.4” XVGA
Explorer Lite: 8.5” WGA
Discovery Lite: 7” NOW DISCONTINUED - Alternative product: iEFIS MX1

Challenger Lite and Explorer Lite do not require an iBOX and feature built in sensors and AHRS. These variants are intended for aircraft not requiring the full interface capability and this results in lower cost and simplified installation.

iEFIS is the most advanced and flexible touch-screen system money can buy.

In turbulence take full control using the buttons and knobs.

Enjoy worldwide mapping and display your own CAA charts with terrain and aviation database (update via a subscription from Pocket FMS)

Add to and manipulate the aviation database - add farm strips and fly simulated ILS approaches anywhere.

Select from a wide range of pre-installed screens or design your own on your PC. Up to 9 screens can be displayed and changed at the turn

of a knob.

Comprehensive and very flexible engine monitoring with full audio and visual alarms.

Traffic display using PilotAware, FLARM, XRX

Full autopilot functionality -  just add MGL servos

We ship worldwide. At checkout you can choose from low cost airmail options and express courier services like DHL or FedEx.

Within the UK we normally dispatch using Royal Mail or DHL. You choose the level of service at checkout.

VAT sales tax (20%) is included in the price displayed on the website. This tax applies to UK customers and EU customers. It will continue to apply to customers in the 27 EU member states from 1 January 2021. This is because we are located in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Protocol, agreed by the EU to facilitate cross border trade with the Irish Republic after Brexit, also applies to the rest of the EU.  We continue to charge the UK rate of vat to customers in the 27 EU member states and there is no further tax to pay upon delivery. We can continue to zero rate the vat for EU business customers who enter their vat number at checkout.

Customers outside the EU do not pay vat and the tax will be removed at checkout. Local import taxes may apply - check with your local authority.

Currency. All products are priced in Pound Sterling (GBP, £). Using the "Currency" tab you can change the displayed currency to either Euro (EUR, €) or US Dollar (USD, $). This is an indicative exchange rate, automatically updated daily and is based upon the prevailing bank rate. The price you see may be displayed in USD or EUR but payment processing will be conducted in GBP. This means that your card issuer will apply their usual exchange rate, which is likely to be different from our indicative rate.

The complete self-contained iEFIS
AHRS solid state gyros inside - no extra cost.
All flight instruments.
Connect to PilotAware for traffic display.
Full EMS engine monitoring, just add an RDAC  engine module.

(No iBOX required with "lite" models)

Up to two "Lite” panels can be used in a single system and they can share RS232 ports and CAN bus devices.

A typical comprehensive functionality "Lite” panel may consist of:

A) One or two EFIS panels
B) One RDAC for engine monitoring plus probes as needed
C) One SP-6 compass
Add to this:

D) One, two or three autopilot servos

E) SP-10 flap and trim controller

F) Extender module for Angle of Attack, OAT, and extra RS232, digital and analogue connections.

Also consider the large available range of compatible peripherals from MGL and third parties ranging from VHF radios, navigation radios, transponders, electronic circuit breakers and more.

iEFIS "Lite" range

The stand-alone iEFIS, with built-in AHRS.

The Discovery has a bright non-reflective 7" touch screen of around 1000+ nits. The Explorer has a similar 8.5" touch screen. The Challenger's touch screen is 10.4".

They all look, feel and think like an iEFIS. They have the iEFIS G3 CPU and they run the exact same firmware as the full iEFIS system (in other words they use the same binary and sources).

The Discovery looses a rotary control and the 12 buttons under the display which are now a fixture of the touch screen on the left side. The Explorer lite and Challenger lite retain the buttons and knobs. All gain a built in GPS, AHRS with gyros and accelerometers, airspeed pressure sensor as well as altimeter. They connect to peripherals via a CAN bus as well as two RS232 ports.

So, considering the above, we can say the "lite" can do anything a full iEFIS can, subject to having fewer hardware interfaces - but because of that there is no need for a separate iBOX.

The CAN bus supports everything we have - Autopilot servos, engine monitoring modules, flap and trim controller, tranponders, compass, etc.
You can also connect an external AHRS if you like (highly recommended if you add autopilot servos) and you get RS232 ports for radios, ADSB etc.

There is a small expansion module, the MGL Extender - if needed, it provides analogue and digital inputs, more RS232 ports, a AOA sensor and few additional items.

The "Lite" is a stand-alone system, unlike our normal iEFIS systems where you can have multiple, joined panels in a complex infrastructure.

"Lites" are straight forward to install and make great panels for aircraft owners who want a sophisticated EFIS but without the cost and complications of a large system.

A typical Lite system would be: The Discovery / Explorer / Challenger Lite panel, a RDAC for engine monitoring (if needed), perhaps a SP-6 compass. That's it. Add autopilot servos for an even greater overall deal...
